I cannot link reviews as they are connected to online agents. So not much there, even among German reviews.For the ship I find good reviews in German and it is a very reputable company. Last year of course Amadeus will have sailed with a much reduced passenger count. This the German page: Based on statistics I reckon the fact that it is a German/Austrian offer means on this small board and on CC you will not find many reviews. My inquiry was specific to COVID-19 testing for our return trip to the US. I just hope it isn't at the expense of half of the fun and satisfaction!I had a great experience when calling Amadeus customer service. The individual was english speaking and assume from the US as she was void of any accent. Our trip ticket on Amadeus was almost half of a couple other river cruise operators. Also cruise price seemed very reasonable, they do not inflate cabin costs just to offer you "free air".
My wife and I cruised Budapest/Amsterdam in May 2018 on Avalon Passion and liked the fact that the tours in each city were all included. I know some German language but not enough to be conversational but I would like to learn a little moreI have done some further research of Amadeus and found the tours are optional which does suit some travellers. Two hundred German passengers and only twenty English speaking from other countries Norway, UK, Italy and Australia. In 2011 my late wife and I did the Transiberian rail trip on the Zarengold. I love learning about different cultures.
At the moment we are fully vaxxed but still banned from international travel but that could (should) change very soon. Viking looks attractive, if we can get a good deal on flights but it's hard to predict what will happen. My TA's offer for the Amadeus package included return flights and looked to be good value. It was a bucket list cruise and my wife fell ill on the day we arrived home and passed away four weeks later.I'm now looking at doing the same cruise with a friend next year so we are considering at all options.
